REPORT OF THE DUCK OUTING LAS FLORES MAY 21st 2022

Great news from the field! The conservation project focused on estimating the abundance and productivity of ducks in Las Flores, western Buenos Aires province was re-launched May this year.

On Saturday 21st, we managed to re-start such project by visiting the area with a threeman team led by Juan Pablo. As part of the monitoring scheme, we used a 4x4 vehicle to get close to water bodies seeking for ducks.

Albeit austral autumn is already in place, mild temperatures were encountered throughout the outing.

A total of 14 lagoons was visited that day; all of them holding at least one or two species of duck of interest. These included chiefly the Yellow-billed Pintail and the Speckled Teal, followed by the Rossy-billed Pochard.

More ducks are to be counted on the next outing that is within a month of this very first outing of 2022.
